Henry Ford - Henry Ford was working as a senior engineer at Thomas Edison's factory in Detroit when he got together with some friends to build his first gas-powered automobile. While he used readily available parts to create the vehicle, the ignition system was designed and engineered by Ford. The engine was based on a two-cylinder design from an issue of "American Machinist" magazine. A few months after completing the quadricycle, Ford sold it for $200 and used the proceeds to begin work on his next car. He later reacquired the vehicle.:
