Guernsey - The Little Chapel is in Guernsey, an island in the English Channel that’s a British Crown dependency. The fanciful structure was built in the early 20th century by one Brother Déodat, who came to Guernsey in 1904 after fleeing religious restrictions in France. Déodat’s aim was to build a small chapel reminiscent of the one in Lourdes, but he destroyed his initial attempt after facing criticism. He also demolished a second version of the chapel after the Bishop of Portsmouth couldn’t fit in the door on a visit in 1923. The chapel fell into disrepair in the 1960s but has since been restored. It’s one of the smallest chapels anywhere, as well as one of Guernsey’s most famous tourist attractions.:
